SubDog-Style Footlong Hot Dog Sandwich

Ingredients

• 1 footlong sandwich roll or Subway-style bread
• 1 footlong all-beef hot dog, or 2 standard beef hot dogs
• 1–2 slices cheddar, mozzarella, or processed cheese
• Lettuce, shredded
• Tomato, sliced
• Red onion, sliced
• Pickles, sliced
• Jalapeños, optional
• Mustard
• Ketchup
• Mayonnaise, chipotle sauce, barbecue sauce, or sweet onion sauce
• Salt and pepper, optional

Method

1. Cook the hot dog
   Grill, pan-fry, boil, or steam the hot dog until heated through. If using two standard hot dogs, cook both.

2. Prepare the bread
   Slice the footlong roll lengthwise without cutting all the way through. Lightly toast it if preferred.

3. Add cheese
   Place cheese inside the roll. If desired, warm the bread briefly in an oven or toaster oven until the cheese starts to melt.

4. Add the hot dog
   Place the cooked footlong hot dog inside the roll. If using two smaller hot dogs, place them end to end.

5. Add toppings
   Add lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, jalapeños, or other preferred sandwich toppings.

6. Add sauces
   Apply mustard, ketchup, mayonnaise, barbecue sauce, chipotle sauce, or another sauce combination.

7. Serve
   Cut in half if desired and serve warm.
